Census GPS Navigation Computer-Based Training
The Bureau of the Census needed to train hundreds of Field Representatives to use a new GPS Navigational System to map schools, hospitals, places of worship, etc. In order to maximize the effectiveness of the classroom-based training, they needed every Field Representative to have foundational base-line knowledge of the system.
TDP created a computer-based training course that included hands-on simulations of the system functions. The course content was broken down into logical modules and included frequent knowledge checks for learners to confirm their understanding before proceeding. If the knowledge check indicated any deficiency, the learner was then directed to areas in which they needed additional self-study. A Certificate of Completion was generated after passing the minimum requirements.
The computer-based course enabled the surveyors to become familiar with the GPS system and its base functionality prior to attending the more in-depth classroom training course, minimizing classroom time.
